Test your domain setup

Use Outlio's built-in tool to verify that your DNS records (MX, SPF, DMARC) are configured correctly before sending campaigns.

How to Test Your DNS Setup

  1. 1

    Go to Email Accounts

Navigate to the Email Accounts page from the sidebar.

  2. 2

    Click "Test Domain Setup"

Find the button in the header area near "Add New".

    Test Domain Setup
  3. 3

    Wait for Results

Outlio will check MX, SPF, and DMARC records for all domains associated with your email accounts.

Understanding the Results

All accounts have MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records set up!

If you see this message, your DNS is properly configured. You're ready to send campaigns!

Setup Incomplete: Some domains are missing records

If you see this message, some domains need attention. The test will show exactly which records are missing.

Example:

• example.com: missing SPF, DMARC

• company.io: missing MX

What Gets Checked

RecordWhat We CheckWhy It Matters
MXMail server records existRequired to receive replies
SPFTXT record with v=spf1Authorizes your email servers
DMARCTXT record at _dmarc with v=DMARC1Sets policy for failed checks

Note: DKIM is not checked automatically because it requires knowing your specific selector. DKIM is set up through your email provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.).

Fixing Missing Records

If the test shows missing records, follow the appropriate guide to set them up:

Tips

Wait for DNS propagation - After adding records, wait at least 1-2 hours before testing again. Full propagation can take up to 48 hours.

Test before launching campaigns - Always verify your DNS setup before sending to avoid deliverability issues.

Check all domains - If you have multiple email accounts on different domains, make sure each domain is configured.
